Technologies

Novarials has developed three nanowire membrane platform technologies, one nanowire coating platform technology and a series of nanowire manufacturing procedures. Novarials is offering these proprietary technologies for licensing.

1. Bendable Ceramic Paper Membrane Platform Technology

By using our high quality and precisely engineered ceramic nanowires as building blocks, Novarials has developed an unprecedented Bendable Ceramic Paper Membrane platform technology. Our bendable ceramic paper membranes are thin porous membranes made of ceramic nanowires. They are flexible and bendable with a thickness from 10 microns to hundreds of microns and a pore size from a few nanometers to hundreds of nanometers. Novarials has achieved over a dozen of different bendable ceramic paper membranes including titanium oxide, aluminum oxide, vanadium oxide, magnesium oxide, tungsten oxide, manganese oxide, nickel oxide, iron oxide membranes, etc. These bendable ceramic paper membranes are expected to have huge potentials in dozens of industries, e.g., filtration and separation, thermal barriers, semiconductive network, etc.

2. Flexible Ceramic Hollow Fiber Membrane Platform Technology

Novarials has fabricated the world’s first flexible ceramic hollow fiber membranes by using our ceramic nanowires as building blocks. These flexible ceramic hollow fiber membranes are made of pure ceramic materials without any organic additives/binders. They are flexible/bendable with an outside diameter from 0.2 to 1.5mm and a pore size from 5nm to 500nm. With the advantages of great flexibility, small diameter, ultrahigh packing density, high filtration performance, high stability, simple fabrication, and low manufacturing cost, these flexible ceramic hollow fiber membranes will have the potential to address many tough separation and filtration challenges in a dozen of industries, e.g., water, chemical, oil, food, beverage, gas industries, etc. And also they can be used as porous support for dense membranes.

3. Ceramic Nanowire Battery Separator Platform Technology

Novarials has developed an unprecedented battery separator technology - ceramic nanowire battery separators. Our ceramic nanowire battery separators have following superior characteristics and properties: (1) pure ceramic; (2) flexible; (3) highbtemperature stability; (4) superior electrochemical performance; (5) high porosity; (6) intrinsic hydrophilic surface; (7) high ionic conductivity; and (8) low manufacturing cost. A battery separator with these superior properties and performance is predicted to be the next generation high safety battery separator.

4. Inorganic Nanowire Coating Technology

Using our unprecedented inorganic nanowires, Novarials has developed a coating technology which can provide a thin layer of porous nanowire coating on other inorganic porous substrates with plate, tube or irregular surfaces.

Such a thin layer of porous nanowire coating can serve as:

  • A high flux filtration layer
  • A self-cleaning surface
  • A anti-microbial surface
  • A high temperature insulation layer
  • A protection layer with much strong mechanical properties

5. Inorganic Nanowire Manufacturing Technologies

Novarials has developed cost effective manufacturing procedures for our unprecedented inorganic nanomaterials. With the vision
that these novel nanomaterials should be manufactured at a low cost in a large scale, we have developed proprietary procedures
which are very cost effective and can be easily scaled up. The large scale commercial prices of these novel nanomaterials are slightly
higher or comparable to the commercial commodities. These novel nanostructured materials will have wide applications with a
market needs from kilograms to tons.

Novarials is offering the proprietary preparation technologies of the following inorganic nanomaterials for licensing:
